Objections to Evolution

Do you object to evolution and if so why? This isn't a thread about evolution, it's a thread about objection to evolution. It doesn't matter what evolution teaches, only why you object to it, if that is the case. Or perhaps why you don't.

I think it's pointless to debate the origins of life with people who think they "evolved" from dirt... 馃

Evolution isn鈥檛 about the origins of life. That鈥檚 abiogenesis. Evolution began when life began replicating.

@DocSavage "replicating" is to make a copy of something, macro evolution puts forth the absurd theory that something can "evolve" from something completely different (not a replicant). It's as silly as the notion that if you stick a lizard and a banana together, that eventually they'll reproduce a dog...馃ぃ

Again, that is not how evolution works. Self replicating organisms produce copies of themselves. The copies are not perfect however, developing different characteristics from its parent. If the difference is beneficial and gives that organism an advantage within its environment, it will live to pass on that advantage to future generations.
In time, those differences may radically change the nature of the life form.
Like dinosaurs. Starts of with bare , rough skin, develops fur, the hair becomes longer, thicker, ridged , becomes feathers. The fur was originally for protection from the elements, but flight became an added bonus. Which then became the main feature.

@wildbill83 Does that imply that you think that we were created from dirt? What if they believed that we came from outer space on the backs of crystals or whatever it is the Scientologists believe?
BibleDataM
@DocSavage I assume that you have no objections to evolution?
DocSavageM
@BibleData
No, Adam was created from dirt, and brought to life by a golem spell. I don鈥檛 believe in gods or magic. Some creationist like to imply that evolution claims we came from a rock. That is also a lie. Carbon is part of our biological make up, but we did not come from rock or dirt. And it actually makes sense that life would use elements from the environment to build upon and grow.
DocSavageM
@BibleData
None. However, a true believer might consider it a factor that renders not only a creator god redundant, but Jesus as well. If Adam didn鈥檛 fall, we don鈥檛 need him to save us.
BibleDataM
@DocSavage Life builds?
DocSavageM
@BibleData
It grows, so yes it builds
BibleDataM
@DocSavage So, by building you really mean grows. Life grows. You fucked up, didn't you? Building implies design, even if rudimentary, not random accident.

A car crashes into a building, resulting in death. That's an evolution from life. A building is designed and constructed. It doesn't just happen for any reason other than that and it doesn't happen without design and construction by something other than nature.

That's how easy it is to see words building a statement. As easy as the truth or a lie. Right or wrong.
