Today i'ma dunk on creationists more: If Evolution is wrong and humans and chimps don't share a common ancestor, how do creationists explain ERVs?

Endogenous Retroviruses are a type of virus (like HIV) that reproduce by inserting their genetic code into the host DNA chain. When one of these viruses infects a reproductive cell, that viral DNA is copied into every cell of the host's children. The presence of these segments of viral DNA in the human genome are the results of discrete infection events.

But what's this? Humans and chimpanzees share these random insertion points of viral genetic material. Not in a couple places or even dozens of places but in over 200 places.
If humans and chimps were separate created kinds then the odds of them sharing even a single ERV site, much less hundreds are laughably small (there are something like 10 million possible insertion points).

How does the creationist argue that this as a result of a common designer with more explanatory power than evolution argues common descent?
A hint: He/She doesn't.

If you're interested in a more detailed and beautifully animated explanation of this slam dunk then do check out this video by Stated Clearly. (A friend of mine does some of the art for it!😃)

We are chimpanzees with larger brains, the ability to speak and less body hair.
@eMortal

lol essentially, yes.

A nice simple answer
@DocSavage

lol i like that.

There isnt any science in the bible. So, it is simply how god designed it, dontcha know?
@Carla So i'm told, lol

@Pikachu 🙂.

I believe God over any man-made science. Here are many articles that proves evolution wrong, and your "friends" opinions wrong and that you choose to believe in, instead of Gods own words.

If you care to translate all these articles in this mans website, if not so be it.
@Carazaa

lol that's a solid hell no, Carazaa! I mean be serious here!
Shockingly, i'm not really interested nor prepared to learn a second language to the point where i can not only read but understand technical terms and scientific nomenclature!

I definitely do not care to translate, then read, ALL THE ARTICLES and then argue against this website that may or may not actually have any relevant or accurate information pertaining to the subject at hand! What an absurdly disproportionate investment of time and effort!🤣

If you feel this source represents a legitimate rebuttal to the argument i have raised then synthesize what you learned when you read it ( assume you have) and present the argument here in your own words as i have with mine.

If not, so be it. No skin off my nose.

Sorry for the rant but woah! What a wild thing to pose in response to difficult piece of evidence lol.

Let's dial it back and just focus on this ERV argument for now. Do you think you can argue against it or not?
@Carazaa

Additionally, if you feel this guy makes good arguments disproving evolution and want to discuss said arguments, make a thread about it and i'm sure myself and others will be only too happy to sink our teeth into it.

they dont. they can DO science
Science alters it views, by what can be observed
Faith ignores observation, so that belief can be preserved
@Dshhh
Faith ignores observation, so that belief can be preserved

That's my impression in general.
Incorporate what can be incorporated and deny what can't.

Motivated reasoning at its finest.

Who cares about any specific thing?
Some do, some don't😏

Some people are interested in movies, some people are interested in sports, some people are interested in politics, some people are interested in religion, some people are interested in breeding pigeons.

It's a big ol' world
