When I was ten in 1980, my mother moved my older two brothers and myself from the Portland, Oregon, area, to the middle of nowhere north central iowa to her family farm where her older brother farmed at that time, from a 19,000 student school district in a Portland suburb of 37,000, to a school district of 150 students in a town of 400. Major culture shock.
