The entire EU, wealth wise … the average person , is poor by American standards . The EU makes less than the average person in our poorest state . The US is also not a socialist nation . We have a government controlled by the people and guaranteed rights in our constitution, guaranteeing we free and won’t get arrested for a social media post .
Here , the doctor has to pay for his education and room and board at the university . Then he has to pay for medical school. He edited the poverty of residency so that at age 32-35, he can apply what he has learned and make the living all of that work and sacrifice and personal expense has put him into the position to possibly make . Not all doctors here are millionaires, if the have invested well and have a good pension plan at their hospital, they might retire as one .
If , at the end of all that work , the doctor knew he would make as much as an electrician , he likely would choose a different field .

They have to pay for malpractice insurance and their own medical school loans. However, the problem isn't just doctors. The insurance system in the US insulates patients from costs; when you get a bill, part of it (or most of it) is covered by insurance. For example, I could have a MRI where the hospital charges $1500, but I only pay $200. Every doctor's office and hospital has people whose sole job is dealing with insurance companies. It's an incredibly inefficient system. You don't need socialized medicine to deal with this, just single payer. We already have that for older people under Medicare; it could just be expanded.
Also, emergency rooms are required to treat anyone regardless of their ability to pay, and these costs have to be passed to paying customers. Emergency rooms are a very expensive way to provide primary care, but people go there when they have no other options. Go into any ER waiting room in the US and you will notice that nearly everyone there is not having an "emergency."
