My personal favourite people are the ones hating on disabled people for claiming the help they're entitled to in order to offset some of the extra financial demands that their disability places on them.
Like... "Did you ever consider not being disabled in the first place???" Or "Get a job, you scrounger" (the latter is often said to disabled people who are already working - since their payment is not means tested or covered by any working hours requirements).

@HootyTheNightOwl It amazes and horrifies me the messed up logic they use to feel justified in being monsters.

@FoxyGoddess …and that they almost all seem to refer to themselves as “God fearing Christians!”

@KunsanVeteran They are going to be super surprised when they hit hell.

Agreed

I would like to add another “disadvantaged population” into the discussion: our homeless veterans and wounded warriors.

I wish anyone who talks about the "undeserving poor" would take their argument to its logical conclusion and justify people starving to death in the midst of plenty or their children suffering through no fault of their own. For a certain strain of conservative, the problem is always someone else's.

@HootyTheNightOwl No argument from me! We have some community and church run food banks but they ya drop in the bucket compared to the need for those services.
And then there’s the separate but related issue of “food deserts.”

@KunsanVeteran Did you know that foodbanks won't even take boxes of 40+ pouches of pet food and split them down among their clients???
It seems like madness when you consider that you can help more pets with larger boxes that are now going to waste because they won't accept them. The only thing wrong with the food is that my cats died before they ate it.

@HootyTheNightOwl These still have to be funded though. If not by the state (in which case it becomes a "handout") then by charity which os extremely precarious.
