No, it's no Eiffel Tower
It's never an easy life for people like us. I mean then, those that don't have the money, the prestige nor, yes, here comes the magic word, the power to make a big difference. I don't and I do hope that you don't either. Why?
Looking at what's been contructed on the South Lawn of the White House something does become real. Oh yes, it looks very much like a fighting cage has erected on public grounds at the request of a nation's dear leader.
John McCain didn't try to outlaw FNC, but he actively campaigned to ban the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and "no holds barred" fighting, calling the early iteration of the sport "human cockfighting". I do miss his voice.
Moreover, when one remembers that it's going to be a celebratory event that just happens to take place on president Donald Trump's birthday tomorrow, thoughts go naturally to the gladiators at Ancient Rome's Colosseum.
Gladiators' fighting to the death to entertain the emperor wasn't on the mind of anyone 250 years ago though. One could even make the case not on the mind of King George III. Not his particular madness either.
As with any other birthday one also thinks of the future. Here's one thought of mine. Do we really need leaders of any democratic country to start building themselves pyramids? I know McCain would have said no.
