Current technology and pessimism don’t make the U.S. “unsurvivable.” Nuclear weapons are terrifying, but deterrence, command controls, and the country’s size make total extinction unlikely. Pandemics or engineered pathogens could do enormous damage, but public‑health systems and medical tools lower the chance of a complete collapse.
