Good news! Time to use up all that Alaskan oil before it goes stale.
Bad news... Strategic oil use means that we sucking fumes in America.

You can only vote on one answer.
Today after crude oil momentarily hit $119 per barrel then sagged, Trump ordered the opening of the US Strategic Oil Reserves which are located in Alaska. Those are oil wells that are already drilled but are capped-off and kept in reserve for emergency domestic use-only or for military use. The reason those wells are being un-capped is because there is now an oil shortage in the USA.

It is unclear whether you want an answer that works for America, or for the rest of the species..In the short term this gets rid of the problem Trump created a couple of weeks ago. And it take a few weeks to drain the reserve, so expect to see trump out on the golf course regularly..
Now from the global perspective, the sooner America runs out of oil and moves into a semi post apocalyptic phase, where they eat their own young, its a shame and all. But probably for the best..😷

Good news or bad news of an outcome is always viewed from one's own perspective. Therefore, the question was worded to be answered from the reader's own perspective, which would be either an American perspective or from a much larger, non-American global perspective.

@swirlie OK. Then to quote Spock. "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." I have been counselling the decline and fall of America economically for a long time. Its past the point of no return now. Even if the society and culture managed a seismic shift tomorrow, the debt cannot be paid back and the society will not accept the severe austerity required to even attempt it. That means there will be a brain drain, weakening the economy and society even further as those with the means and skills go. So America is screwed, because Trump burned all the goodwill. I vote with the world..😷

Oh, I agree with you 100% about the soon-to-be "fall of America" and I'm not even qualified to make such a claim! I too vote with the world in that regard! In fact, I already cast my own vote in my own thread!

@swirlie Yep.. Not our circus. Not our elephants. We dont have to clean that up..😷

I think you have the best approach for all this... just stand to one side and watch everything unfold as predicted!

@swirlie Obviously I think so or I wouldnt have said it. But its a tragedy. And so unnecessary. The world tolerated so much to leave America alone. But Trump just blew it all to hell and no one will ever Trust America again as long as government resembles ant system that can be this corrupted.😷

@whowasthatmaskedman
What do you think Trump's motive was for doing this to the USA?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@swirlie This is one of those "Captain Obvious" Questions. Its Trump. So there are only two reasons. Greed and Insecure Ego..😷

But surely there must be something more sinister you can come up with?

@swirlie because the other distractions to the Epstein files have failed (UFO files etc) so now he's had to resort to more extreme measures in order to protect his powerful and guilty friends (and probably himself). The rich and powerful have America and the world by the balls. Justice doesn't apply to them
swirlie · 31-35, F
@daddy95
I disagree that Trump's invasion of Iran is serving as a distraction from the Epstein files.

Trump is not fighting America's war with Iran, Trump is using the US military to fight Israel's war with Iran, which Trump is doing in exchange for something that would be of great benefit to Trump himself, but not of benefit to the USA.

The only reason Trump engaged with Netanyahu is because there is something in it for Trump, otherwise Trump wouldn't go near it, which is what Trump's personal track record has been since the 1970s.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@swirlie I believe that so often there is not one pure reason for anything. Certainly Much of this is about Israel. And there may be a need to create a set of "War Nerves" in the US electorate to attempt to shore up support behind the flag before the mid terms. Some of the defence contractors may also want to business of replacing the expended ordinance. Epstein may just be a lucky coincidence.😷

One of two issues will take Trump down in the end... it will either be Iranian terrorists coming after Trump and his family who will forevermore need to hide in the shadows within the Continental boundaries of the USA for the rest of their lives, or it will be Trump's role with Jeffery Epstein.

Sitting in a jail cell doing penance for his days with Epstein may seem like a safe place for Trump to hide for his remaining days on earth, but let's not forget that Jeffery Epstein didn't commit voluntary suicide while in jail as originally stated by the Trump Administration. I would call it "assisted suicide".

Talk about lucky coincidences!

@swirlie There is a lot to unpack there. I dont share your faith that the system will catch up with Trump before he dies. I think either Trump will catch up with himself as his health fails. Or his own people will decide its time and backstab him. In which case we may well be told his health failed. Either way, I hope it hurts..😷

Oh yes, for sure! It wouldn't be the 'American way' unless there was some kind of coverup involved to hide the truth from the world's awareness! Good point!
