After Afghanistan I don't know why anyone would see the arrival of the Americans, the British or of NATO, as a positive. The Taliban were back almost immediately after the West pulled out and many of those who risked their lives to help the allies were abandoned to their fate. ISIS still exists, Afghanistan is still ruled by the Taliban. The record of successful regime change is not good. The "collateral damage" is always huge and the final outcome is as assured as lottery ticket. The lucky host country is usually left with destroyed infrastructure, a six figure death toll and a seven figure displacement of people into other countries who are forced to flee with nothing.

I don’t mean to make this about me but I been told I am delusional when I stated these facts with my family and they think Khamaany is a martyr.

Yes, lot of muslims deny the unjustice in Iran.
And a lot deny the injustice towards Iranians by the US and the Gulf.
They think of this through religious lense. Either emphasizing the shia difference, or the fact that others are kfeers.
It is all a spectrum of the same social disease.
