War has always been a sad and horrible thing,

but there is something particularly sinister about a country being able to inflict incredible human suffering on others without going through any real pain, itself. And that ability is pretty much completely unique to the power the developed world has over the developing world, today.

Whatever happens, may God help the people of Iran. To whatever extent the US has ever had the Mandate of Heaven, we've lost it. The rest of the world needs to show some solidarity against us.

I have always resented your government and your passiveness for this.

To the extent that I have found it incredibly difficult to belong with my western loved ones, at times.

It is hard.

But it is also hard to feel like I belong with my own people, because they too have too much passiveness and weakness that can get changed..weakness that allows outsiders to hurt us in a variety of ways.

Intellectual and ethical vulnerabilities that should be outgrown not embraced under the banners of race, culture or religion.

The responsibility of what goes on in war is often way more complicated to be pinned on single side. But it is not as heavy on all. The more power you have, the more damage you're capable of inflicting. And the more responsibility you hold.

@GeistInTheMachine I don't want to resent your country. My partner is American and I love them so much and do wish things were different. And that I wasn't such complicated person.

Resentment in general is useless and itself disempowering. Just a reaction towards helplessness and can cloud anyone's perspective. It feeds on so much energy and traps you in conflicted feelings but I was told it is normal reaction, many times. And it is part of how genuine and real growth znd healing look like. It is always so sweet and loving. Sometimes it is rage and pain.
