Proud American here. Everyday I wake up and wonder what Trump wil have done, said or posted during the previous 24 hours and know that he couldn’t possibly have embarrassed himself or more importantly, the USA. And everyday I’m wrong. He has managed to do, say and/or post something ; often all three and numerous times that once again has me cringing in disbelief at how he has managed to completely distance this wonderful country from the rest of the world.
Just look at his speech at the United Nations last week. As many politicians do, he had built in applause points during his speech. For those who don’t know these are sections of the speech specifically written to generate ‘ spontaneous’ applause from the audience. Well, apparently there was little to no applause from the members in attendance at any of Trumps applause points. This lack of applause shows just how much Trump is disliked and how far the USA has fallen in the world’s eyes.
I never thought I’d live to see this and w a little over 2 years left of his term, I’m sure it will get worse. It will take decades to build up the world’s trust and belief in the US again, if ever.
Sad, very sad.
