or the Independence arch is a triumphal arch proposed by Donald Trump in 2025 that would be located in Washington, D.C. The arch would celebrate the US Semiquincentennial this year, marking 250 years that the Declaration of Independence was signed.
The site is Memorial Circle, a traffic circle on Memorial Drive between the end of the Arlington Memorial Bridge and Arlington National Cemetery. It is directly across the Potomac River from the Lincoln Memorial at the west end of the National Mall.
“I’d like it to be the biggest one of all," President Trump said yesterday, "We’re the biggest, most powerful, nation. I’d like it to be the biggest one.”
Landmarks like the Washington and Lincoln monuments were built posthumously to honor the history and accomplishments of those men. Trump builds himself a monument to celebrate himself. And of course it has to dwarf the rest of Washington.
