Why is living in the USA so ridiculously expensive?

It does somewhat depend on locale but between groceries, rent/mortgages and housing, healthcare, higher education, transportation, taxes, and other miscellaneous expenses it seems more and more people are struggling to pay for things and save enough money for extras like hobbies/passions, nice things, travel, etc. also taxes are really high ( as in other highly industrialized nations) but it seems the quality of services in America lag behind for example Western Europe. Also there is a culture of overworking just to survive and not enough companies give out ample vacation time and personal/sick leave days and I feel that a lot of America is just profit driven for the necessities. I mean yes America has its positive aspects too but it shouldn’t be that you have to be in the top 5-10% of earners to be able to build a quality life for yourself or work three jobs or a job for like 50 hours a week just to survive. And also other countries have businesses that look to make profits to be sure but it just seems like the United States has taken it to a whole new level. I don’t find this mentality healthy. I see why some people are becoming expatriates and immigrating to other countries to live for cost efficiency and better quality of life. I find it so crazy that people making. Say for example making $50,000 to $100, 000 annually in some places and it is not enough money to live on comfortably. That boggles my mind. Some people are lucky to be making $ 30,000-$45,000 per year. Why in the last few decades has life become so expensive? Human rights have increased and animal welfare has gotten better., but the cost of living has skyrocketed. Even $25,000 for one person which is honestly not that much puts you at too much money for getting help. Credit card debt is also another factor. Paying for things on credit because they don’t have enough money in cash saved up to pay for something outright. It seems like everything is meant to get you further into debt and burning oneself out on work instead of a balanced healthy lifestyle? You could argue supply and demand driving up costs or many other factors. What the hell happened America?
