USA toward autarky?

Autarky defined as economic independence or self-sufficiency.
States rights!
Every state for itself
A national(federal government) is too big to work!
The disunited states of America perhaps regionalism?
Issues in Oregon and/or Alaska are far different than issues in Florida and or Texas and/or Maine
Coastal areas with interstate trade agreements?
Should landlocked states be negotiating access to port cities?
It’s a new world let’s embrace it!

Would never work. This is a low-trust society and extremely disunited. That would just lead to more chaos and abuse and riots.

They tried to do every State for themselves and it didn't work.

If it was going to work, it would have worked back in the 1700's.

There is just too much baggage now. It would be like going backwards.

@GeistInTheMachine it didn’t work in the 1700s because of transportation issues. And the speed at which information/news traveled . Given shipping airplanes and automobiles, now it could work. The u.s is so close minded. Europe united economically but culturally historically and based on national identity maintain significant independence and sovereignty. Is it so far fetched that Massachusetts compared to Arizona could each do their own thing? Are New Hampshire and Alaska so alike that they should be forced to bend a knee to the same corrupt federal tyranny?
Something needs to change! Montana when compared to Florida wow! it’s apples to oranges yet everyone has to follow federal BS and selective enforcement which changes whenever congress switches party majority or at the whim of the latest president. Whom may not have received a majority of votes; is that democractic? Does not sound like it!
Provincial or regions have their own culture and history New England compared to the Virginia coast quite different. what applies to Nevada doesn’t work in Utah. That’s REALITY!

@GeistInTheMachine we are def moving in the direction of states rights . Roe v Wade, open carry, sanctuary cities , legal weed . These are all states rights issues, and the Fed is allowing states to dictate policy
exchrist · 36-40
@AthrillatheHunt yes and based on federal deficit spending ww2 mentality post retirement age politicians aged out strategy and war hawk politicians. It’s time to do it differently!
exchrist · 36-40
@AthrillatheHunt allegedly the founders warned of regionalism but maybe they mean be careful doing it. Not to avoid it but to take our time not beware but be wary of? Lot of illiteracy back then and imagine everything being recorded by hand whilst being dictated. Typos/errors were inevitable
exchrist · 36-40
@AthrillatheHunt the fed is being circumvented by actually democratic institutions on the state level. The fed is owned by lobbying groups corporate interests and post retirement age “representatives”
Can we agree on that?
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@exchrist you think those entities don’t exist on the state levels ? They’re desperately trying to put a casino near where I live . Some people in the state level operate like the Fed level, just w smaller budgets
exchrist · 36-40
@AthrillatheHunt I agree it does translate to state politics too more so local city town county than state legislative level, from my perspective. I’m in Upstate New York; turnover is slow the regulars maintain fond memories of 30 years ago among the 65+ crowd; especially those with less education. Frustrating but the fed is worst and somehow federal policy is more enforced than state standards. Frustrating! Off with their heads? A bit much probably! Definitely unlikely
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@exchrist those w money make the rules . Good luck convincing them to “do it differently “
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@exchrist the Fed did ZERO enforcement when Cali legalized rec weed dude.
How many people did the Fed roundup in Seattle when they declared sanctuary city ? The Fed is okay w states dictating policy
exchrist · 36-40
@AthrillatheHunt after prohibition starting in 1938 I’d say it was about time that the fed stop policing it. Dude
exchrist · 36-40
@AthrillatheHunt and that’s good it took a long time to get here
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@exchrist I’m very much in favor of states rights . The Fed used to bully uncooperative states by threatening fed $ (they did it to Texas in the 1980’s when they wouldn’t lower their drunk driving limit ). States used to be able to set the legal limit before the Fed stepped in.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@exchrist you said federal policy is more enforced than state standards (policy) , then said the fed hasn’t enforced fed policy since prohibition.
exchrist · 36-40
@AthrillatheHunt overall versus a specific issue prohibition is a fed policy a leftover strategy from alcohol prohibition and now still marijuana prohibition/suppression on the federal level. Has the fed legalized hemp/weed yet? I mean has congress passed that change?
exchrist · 36-40
@AthrillatheHunt further I see news coverage of federal stings crackdown and arrests far more often than state initiatives of the same additionally state enforcements tend to be far more individualized cost effective and more likely to get the actually guilty individuals.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@exchrist you’re talking about the past 6 months. I’m talking about the past 6 years. And orange will NEVER come close to Obamas deportation numbers . He just has way more optics in his limited operations than BarryO did , so it seems like he’s doing extra , when he’s not
exchrist · 36-40
@AthrillatheHunt Obama deportations were spearheaded by congressional republicans no? Not executive orders
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@exchrist Obama deportations were FEDERAL enforcement (which is the topic we are discussing ). Over 1 million. Orange would need 10 terms to match that number
exchrist · 36-40
@AthrillatheHunt 1 million across 8 years? What’s DJT at now 60k in 6 months?
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@exchrist he hasn't even come close to 100k. The media coverage of almost every deportation or sting operation makes it look different than what it is .I mean BarryO’s nickname was “”deporter in chief “, even though his deportations received way less coverage than when Orange does the same thing (albeit in a much smaller level )
