Pending foreign workers? A new type of work visa.

My friend has a farm and needs farm hands it’s prime season to tend the land. There simply aren’t domestic citizens willing (or able) to do the labor he needs done. In the past my friend the FARMER has used temporary farm hands mostly from Caribbean countries and Mexico. Guiermo the Mexican work crew director has citizenship since last year. none of his usual workers are willing to come work for him this season. The fields cannot be adequately farmed with only the 3 workers (2 are my farmer friends’ own sons unable to attend college, bc they are needed on the family farm!) my friend does have available. DJT is destroying American Farms. Usually my friend has about 10 to 12 employed farm hands

Your friend needs to pay more.

We should stop using cheap labor and paying people. Low wages to do backbreaking hard tasks such as forming. Most farmers pay by the bushel, or flat of crops picked.

We do not treat the immigrant farmer labor with dignity and respect and pay them. What they are worth.

And I don't give a shit if your groceries costs 4 times more. If the ones that are doing, the labor are getting paid better.

@dale74 I agree. Unfortunately as a farmer his income is entirely reliant on market prices. He pays what he can afford to pay its typically as close to minimum wage as he can afford and it’s mostly just he and his three sons.
He is barely scrapping by wants to pay his workers more but with increasing costs fewer workers and fewer tax incentives. Mostly a result of “politics as usual” what is he supposed to do? he sells his crop pays his workers provides shelter and extra support to them when he can. how is he the farm owner supposed to pay more? The government has cut his funding by about 15%, at least. He cannot simply absorb that cost he owes money on his half acre farm he works with his sons
