Tariff BS costing us money.

I bought a new car battery this week. I bought the same exact battery back in December. The new battery this week was $74 more than the one I bought just a few months ago. When I asked the guy at the parts store why the price went up so much he told me it was because of the tariffs. When I pointed out that the battery had a 1/25 sticker on it, well before tariffs were implemented he had nothing to say other than the computer tells the price. Do you think corporate America is taking advantage of the tariff issue?

I presume revenue collected now is used to restock current supply, and pay current wages and overhead, so they want to charge now more to cover current restocking and other costs, not how it used to be when current inventory was originally ordered.

Sort of like the price of refined gas for sale now is impacted by the current wholesale price of gas which is influenced by the refinery's cost of buying new unrefined oil which is influenced by current market prices, not how it used to be when the gas you buy now was original bought based on the price of oil back at that time.

Yeah, they may be gouging, but unless they all do it and collude, competition hopefully will bid down the price to cover costs plus normal profit. Hopefully.
