It does not surprise me Elon Musk had no idea what software "his" cars use, because he does not design them. He's just one of Tesla's shareholders.
He seems to have had a rather chequered academic life as if never sure quite what he wanted to do, but he has studied computing and used that skill in some of his business ventures. He gained a BA in Physics (that's an art?) and BSc in Economics (that's a science?), awarded two years after he completed the courses.
So for him to try to demean professional scientists and software developers while living off the results of their work is a bit odd as well as intensely ill-mannered and arrogant. Perhaps he is jealous.
He has not studied Engineering, but he seems heavily inspired by science-fiction novels!
The fact Elon didn't even know who Yann LeCun was until he told him who he was kind a shows how little he knows about the things he claims to be an expert in
@basilfawlty89 imagine buying a social media platform and then being called out by former coding employees for being 100% wrong about the stack on Joe Rogan podcast.
