Why is America trying to get rid of USAID? It's simple...

It's because USAID was investigating Starlink and its ties to Putin.

That is all.

i saw it was funding some sketchy anti-American stuff
@Penny like American farmers? Where do you think they got the food they send out?

@Penny The only thing anti-American now is Musk's DOGE. USAID is the first to go. Medicaid will follow. Soon it will get to the point where people stop getting paid, period.
@Penny I saw a list of funding lines, a few million here, a few million there, for things like AIDS & LGBTQ that the tRump agenda is opposed to. USAID has a $40 billion budget and this list added up to a fraction of a percent of that budget.

If USAID is saving lives and earning goodwill out in the world, do we really want to cancel it and forego that good will for a fraction of a percent of its budget?

BTW, for comparison, the US Dept of Agriculture has a $213 billion budget. Does anybody believe there's zero pork in that budget??

@NerdyPotato no like a concrete factory in Palestine that was making some kind of tunnels with it. article said $310 million dollars went to make "Gaza terror tunnels."

@Penny Are we in debt? Yes. And the Dept of Agriculture is a big ticket item with a $213 billion budget. Why is it being ignored?

Our foreign aid spending has always bought us goodwill and opened foreign markets for us. Meanwhile China, with it's "belt and roads initiative" spent $67.8 billion in 2022 and $92.4 billion in 2023 on various projects outside China. China is buying the goodwill and preparing markets around the world. Do we want to cede all that to China?

article said $310 million dollars went to make "Gaza terror tunnels."
Sounds like fake news to me.

@ElwoodBlues Apparently China has made so much from us that they can afford it. Why do people have to complain about everythign? Im not one who should be discussing this stuff really as I know about nothing about anything political. Im just sick of hearing all the complaining. funidng terrorists seems bad to me though. of course i dont know whats true or not but i saw it in any case. figured theyd take it down if it wasnt true
@Penny
Why do people have to complain about everythign?
... said the person complaining about USAID spending🤣😂

@BlueGreenGrey honestly im afraid to click on any articles related to it. feel free to google though if youd like. i think what i saw was on Facebook. it doesnt seem to be covered on any major news places after doing a google search
@Penny you sure the concrete wasn't used to rebuild the houses, schools and hospitals that were erased under the guise of self defense?

@BlueGreenGrey well, i never heard anything good about it either though i thought i rememebered when it was put into place. it sounded nice but seeing as weve heard nothing baout ittil now doesnt make me think it did anythign good
@Penny if it's only on Facebook, you're wise to not click on any links related to it. Fake news sites generally don't care about privacy or security.

@BlueGreenGrey well, its basically the only thing ive seen about USAID and where the money has gone . i guess it really doenst matter anyway to me at least. I always try to support the president who ever it is no matter if i voted for them or not out of respect for whoever won. not saying i always agree iwth their actions but what do i know?
@Penny that's a good attitude when it's about helping people one way or helping people another way. When the actions are taking away human rights left and right and putting lives on the line, supporting it despite not agreeing may not be the best idea. It's going to take a lot to get those back once they're lost, if that's at all possible.

@NerdyPotato what human rights are being taken away? youre not making much sense
@Penny the right of freedom as legal citizens are being arrested for merely looking foreign, the freedom of speech as the big social media companies are working closely with the Whitehouse on censorship, the right to education with all kinds of topics being scrapped from curriculums as well as budget for public schools being pulled, the freedom from religion as Christianity is pushed into law, the right to not be discriminated against for your gender or sexuality with the LGBTQ+ community being targeted in many ways, to name a few.
Penny · 46-50, F
@NerdyPotato oh isee i thought you were talking about USAID
@Penny that organization literally keeps people alive with food, so the shutdown of that alone takes away the most basic human right of all.
Penny · 46-50, F
@NerdyPotato im not saying USAID giving food is a bad thing lol but really?? food a human right? what is a right but something youre entitled to?? what are we entitled to as humans? nothing. we are given things by order of society. the constitution gives us certain rights in the US, the law.. so trans people should have teh right to do what they want with their bodies but a right for the government to pay for it?? people should have the right to procure food, yes. but for teh government to pay for it isnt necesaarilly a right is it? i dont see wher eyou are getting at.

I mean i agree there should be enough money to feed the starving but i am a nationalist thinker. charity begins at home. we're eating poison because our food supply is supposedly at risk and we;re feeding the world? doesnt make sense to me. I mean sure its great to feed starving people but the issue is that thats not all were feeding with it. Just because USAID is being dismantled doesnt mean we wont help people otherwise.
