Why do Americans just group all of Europe together

Why do you keep saying 'we're going to Europe' when there's such a big difference between Paris and Dunblane lol

It's easy. Why don't you give them that?
SW-User
@val70 Because we Americans then get extremely upset if you say that, say, Virginia and West Virginia are exactly the same because they're American.

@SW-User Really? So why Paris and Dunblane then? They're not Virginia and West Virginia, and I do know the differences. I just question the question
SW-User
@val70 what do you mean by Paris and Dunblane? I know there's a difference. Dunblane seems an odd choice of town to visit, though.

@SW-User You're not the person who asked the question here. He probably knows much better to what he alluded to, I guess. I'm European by the way. You could describe me, for example, as Lower-Saxon, Flemish, Belgian, of Franco-French origines, etc., etc. and I didn't even move country
SW-User
@val70 Good for you. You could describe me as Hawaiian Chinese Japanese Spanish Filipino.
