Planning to go back to the 'States. Where should I go?

I will have to visit family in SoCal, I'm not really interested in Vegas: If I landed on the East Coast for a month or two vacation, where would you recommend an Englishman should visit?

If you on the east coast check out upstate NY, the Fingerlakes, also head into Vermont and New Hampshire, beautiful country up there
