He made his bed. He can lie in it.
peterlee · M
@LadyShagw0rthy The King needs all the support he can get. He is not a well man.
LadyShagw0rthy · 36-40, F
@peterlee He abandoned his family, then tried and failed to damage their reputation. He’s got no capacity to support the king in any way.

Markmywurdz · 61-69, M
He quit his job and flounced off to America. Let him have the same police protection as any other UK private citizen.
peterlee · M
@Markmywurdz He does reach out to people other members of the Royal Family cannot. Also he is fifth in line to the throne. His family need protection. Hopefully the King will step in
Waveney · M
@peterlee nope, it’s Harry’s decision. He can pay for his own security
AdmiralPrune · 46-50, M
Fuck him. It’s not even Charles’s son.
Waveney · M
@AdmiralPrune I thought that once, but he looks too much like Charles
AdmiralPrune · 46-50, M
@Waveney He looks much more like Di’s boytoy.

Waveney · M
Why should he? He’s not a Royal; he’s made that clear.
Pretzel · 70-79, M
I'm not a Brit but I'm wondering if the idea is the King's?
peterlee · M
@Pretzel No, the King has offered Royal accommodation. This is an opening.

The Starmer government is not known for its political nous. Which is one of the reasons it has fallen.
Pretzel · 70-79, M
@peterlee ahh. thanks for the explanation.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
Their intended visit, which they've apparently now cancelled, was not an official function. Although the couple were to have attended some charity events it was really only a family visit.

Any bridge-building is not a monarchical or constitutional matter, but one for the Royal Family itself, within itself.

Although the split is sad, as any family rift is, I don't have too much sympathy for Prince Harry and his missus. They chose to cut and run, to try to be mere "celebrities" in the USA; and be no longer constitutionally relevant to the the United Kingdom. They can afford their own security, too!
