In UK what would happen if cannot afford to rewire your home and it has not been rewired in 30 years?

Nothing, you should probably get an electrician to test it for safety though.

Nothing. I asked an electrician friend if it mine needed doing (55yrs since built) and he he suggested it wasn’t essential unless there was a problem or I was going to carry out major renovations anyway.
