@jefferson schools aren’t free, we definitely do not have free speech, we pay a lot for what we get,
@ididntknow schools are free, university isnt free, but schools are

@jefferson or migrants in hotels, getting fed, having free everything
@ididntknow yes, but i can see the govt problem if they dont house them they'd all be sleeping rough, like they do in calais, destroying nature reserves, enormous amounts of theft in the local area, rubbish every where, and sewage, thats the council would have to cleanup, which would probably be more exensive then putting them in a crappy hotel

@jefferson No they aren’t free, you pay a lot for schools, through your taxes

@ididntknow schools is a classic example of the labour fog and misinformation. So adding VAT to the public school fees was intended per the pre general election statements to raise money for more teachers in the public sector.
But as Badenoch pointed out there are fewer teachers in the public sector than when the Tories left office per the Education Department's own website.
Numerous private schools at the bottom end on pupil fees have gone out of business putting their pupils into the public sector and their parents were paying towards education generally through their taxes and again directly to their now defunct schools.
My own county council is now having to pay taxi fares to bus some of those displaced private sector pupils from the north of the county to the south of the county some 50 miles to find local authority school places out of its funds not central government's.
But on top of that Starmer has now told us that the VAT revenue received through those private school fees is paying for accommodation for the boat arrivals!
