Updated with changes to security information.

Do not travel to Somalia due to crime, terrorism, civil unrest, health, kidnapping, piracy, and lack of availability of routine consular services.

No doubt because it was carved up between two western empires and the natives were subdued and obedient . . happy now? 🤷‍♀
DogMan · 61-69, M
@SunshineGirl 🤣 Much better now, huh? Do you vacation there?
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@DogMan It is a failed state. An indication of where America may be headed once Trump has finished looting civil society.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@SunshineGirl Yeah sure, that is what Trump is doing. The only way we will turn into Somalia
is if Democrats get their way. Democrat run Minneapolis is a perfect example.

Democrats are covering up massive fraud, while telling
tax payers that they will need to raise property taxes to pay for it.

@DogMan The idea that some people are not fit to rule themselves is an old racist trope, especially when it comes to colonialism; that was generally the whole crux of the justification for subjugation, and was often used as a justification for Jim Crow in the U.S.

Meanwhile, you're papering over colonial existence as some kind of sustainable peace when it requires people to be second-class citizens, foments ethnic tensions that often lead to the conflict once the colonizer leaves, and the fact that the West and the Soviets took sides in the conflict, enflaming it and ensuring more death occurred. Colonization is about extraction of resources, that's it. It is not designed to allow for a stable government.

Hence why I said it's the legacy of the West's colonization and the Cold War following it that led to the situation we see today.

Good Lord son, the colonized places are where all the peace and prosperity reside. We De-colonized Somali and gave it back
to the people of Somalia and it turned into a Hell Hole.

Believe me, the good people of Somalia would LOVE the British to come back. It was a beautiful country at one time.
