What is behind the blind generational hatred Britain has for Russia?

It is almost built into the psyche of Britain that must do what ever it can to destroy Russia. Witness the peace talks in Washington yesterday when Starmer suggested that Britain send soldiers to be 'peace keepers'. Of course he knew full well that any such action would be seen as a provocation by Russia ending the peace treaty should there be one.

When there was no one there to confront Russia they poured over the border with the full intention of taking all of Ukraine. The only thing that stopped them is they underestimated Ukraines resolve and readiness to defend Kiev.

You cannot make agreements and treaties with Russia without the power to enforce them. If we don't stop them they will go after Ukraine again or some other neighbor who they sense is weak enough to fall. You might recall how Russia gobbled up Eastern Europe after WWII. Well GB and the EU have good reasons to be concerned.

@MoveAlong You don't know anyone from Ukraine do you? You just spouted the west's propaganda which is not even close to reality.
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Yes, I did spout Western propaganda. I find it much much more trustworthy and reliable than Russian propaganda. Evidence of point: Russia's invasion of a sovereign neighbor.

@MoveAlong So why don't you find some people who have actually lived in that area? That is how I got away from the Western Propaganda. Not a fan of Russian propaganda but an honest reading of the situation.
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 I'll stand pat in how I view Russia. Thanks though.

@MoveAlong Based on what? Western Propaganda? Russia is not an enemy. It is a friend we haven't made yet. Ukraine is not an enemy it too is a friend we haven't helped yet.
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Yes, based on Western propaganda. I'm pretty well versed on propaganda from both sides. I accept the Western version based on what we know of Russia's actions since WWII.

There is nothing you can say that will change my mind. And I have no interest in trying to change yours.

@MoveAlong So you know nothing about Russia. Thanks for your frank admission. Just a question for you how many wars has Russia started and compare that with how many wars the US/ NATO has started.

@MoveAlong A good example of the brainwashing by propaganda, look at what Ukraine was doing to ethnic Russians, about that time, colour revolution in 2014, all the way to 2022, instigated by the EU, America, and the west in general, look at the whole time, not just a snippet, never trust the mainstream media
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@ididntknow Were you there?
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MoveAlong I have eyewitness accounts of people who were there from 2014 until they moved to Canada in 2023.
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Cool. You actually have eyewitness accounts. Is it possible to post them?

@MoveAlong A young Ukrainian lady came to celebrate Christmas with us. She was working her way around the world. There was some sort of government program that I knew about but didn't participate in. As I was passing the turkey she very calmly and in a matter of fact way said that her mom's house had been destroyed the night before. She went on to say that her mom was safe and not home when the artillery shell destroyed the home that the young lady had grown up in. I asked her where in Ukraine that happened and she told me the name of the village and explained that it was close to the Russian border. I instantly assumed that the Russians had done the damage and she laughed at my ignorance. She said that her village was ethnic Russian and they spoke Russian at home and therefore was the target of Western Ukraine. I was completely shocked. I had been told that Russia was the one interfering in other's lives and here was a young lady telling me the opposite. That led to some investigation and I learned by sifting through the nonsense being told in the official media that indeed Ukraine was attacking ethnic Russians in Eastern Ukraine. Last year I met a single mom from Ukraine. She needed a job and since I had several other Ukrainian ex pats working for me and I needed the help.... She was from western Ukraine and she was breathing absolute hatred toward Russia and Russian speakers. I mentioned the others working for me and one Ukrainian father whose mother in law (whom I have met) is Russian. He is from Kiev. BTW he pronounced it Key ev. He told me that he had heard about the shelling of the Russian speakers in Eastern Ukraine. It didn't seem to bother him. I am a Canadian. I am a Christian I was kind of shocked to hear people talking so nonchalantly about killing other people. I suppose if I went back in Canadian History say about 1885 the Canadian government used Gatling guns against fellow Canadians so......

@hippyjoe1955 Absolutely unbelievable.

@MoveAlong Like I said, I didn't form my opinions in a vacuum. I was just a ignorant of facts as anyone else until I met people who were actually involved in the conflict. I can only imagine the hurt that Irena felt knowing her childhood home had been destroyed by her own countrymen because she spoke Russian at home.
