My King and your King Charles should have the last say

@hippyjoe1955
Oh yes he is, whether you like it or not!🤣
And Trudeau was your Prime Minister.
Maybe you would prefer a president?

@SpudMuffin I would much prefer that Western Canada form its own nation. Likely a Republican form of government. Canada is a failed state at the moment.

@hippyjoe1955 I think you're being pessimistic, but if that's how you feel then that's how you feel. I don't think it's the King's fault though, and having a president wouldn't solve your problems.

@SpudMuffin Canada was destroyed as a nation in 1982 when 11 old white guys met in a hotel and over a few too many drinks dreamed up a constitution that was designed to protect the government from the people. Queen Betty rolled into town and dutifully signed it like the good little puppet she was. The royalty are a waste of time and money as witnessed by the demise of Canada.

@hippyjoe1955 so your country is being governed for the benefit of rich people. That applies to most nations these days. Having a president wouldn't change that, the only thing that will is a revolution.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@SpudMuffin Canada is a dictatorship and the constitution of 1982 sealed that forever. Maybe you missed in my earlier post where I said that Canada should break up and form 2 nations.
SpudMuffin · 61-69, M
@hippyjoe1955 I saw your earlier post, but why would it be better to be two nations? Both would be run by plutocrats for the benefit of billionaires.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@SpudMuffin Government is best when kept closest to the people being governed. Canada is a HUGE country with many many many differing interests and needs. The fishermen in Newfoundland come to Alberta to make money. Many of them commute bi weekly. Ontario is a nation unto itself as is Quebec. The west is not represented in either house of parliament in any meaningful way. You would have to live here to understand the impossibility of maintaining an empire such as Canada was designed to be in the 21st century.
