I can see a number of problems with it.
1. Kids will get around it easily.
2. Personal data is being shared with private third-party companies, and we know how good they are at keeping our data safe.
3. It will be extended to other websites, not just porn.

@SpudMuffin I agree. With all of that. It won't actually accomplish the stated goal of the people who are doing it, and what it will do is set a bad precedent. Pretty soon, Big Brother will be able to restrict any website they want to "for our own good".

@SpudMuffin Even big sites like walmart or home depot keep experiencing data breaches.
Imagine smaller sites that just cannot afford web security.

@HoeBag I get the feeling there won't be any smaller websites. This is one more step toward shutting out the little guy.

@LordShadowfire You got a point there.
Well right now in America, adult sites want ID verification. Heck with that.

@SpudMuffin Genuine concerns, but the rules are not aimed just at pornogrpahy. They are also intended to protect young people from sites promoting illgality, violence, self-damage, even suicide.

@ArishMell all of which is good. But do you trust the government to leave it at that?
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@ArishMell I predict that eventually, this rule will be used to prevent education about the fact that guys like me exist. Watch.
