Because governments can't really control every single person that gets in, and attempts to go harsh on it will just end up harming a lot of people who are there legally, while the fundamental problem remains unaffected - similarly to what's happening in the USA right now. Those who sell you an easy solution to such a complex problem as immigration are the least likely to achieve anything because:
1) I'd they really did, they'd lose their main campaign point
2) There's no easy fixes

And no, it's not an "invasion". What Russia is doing to Ukraine is an invasion, abusing the term is utterly disrespectful towards those who are experiencing one for real.

@Elessar it is an invasion. thousands upon thousands of undocumented migrant men coming here, over the channel illegally since 2018 is likened to an 'invasion'.

@darkmere1983 The act of invading, especially the entrance of an armed force into a territory to conquer.

A warlike or hostile entrance into the possessions or domains of another; the incursion of an army for conquest or plunder.

A military action consisting of armed forces of one geopolitical entity entering territory controlled by another such entity, generally with the objective of conquering territory or altering the established government.
