There’s nothing more British than being ushered into a church hall for free coffee and cake by an old couple

I've never had to be ushered into a coffee-morning!

Though neither have I encountered a free coffee-morning: their aim is to raise money for the hall or other cause

Still, the coffee or tea and home-made cake are very low-priced and it's all for a good cause.

That happened to me a few years back. Which was unfortunate because the visiting ticket in my car ran out at almost the same time.
