This has been going on for decades, there were initial complaints from rural areas, however no one listened, then smaller villages and towns lost theirs, but no one listened, then slightly larger towns and parts of cities lost theirs and no one listened. The only way it would change would be people to transfer to banks, building societies that still have some local branches.
It’s the same with local shops, local fruit shops, local hardware shops, local pubs. People do not use them, they close and then people complain, but they still shop at supermarket outside of town.
