So many bank branches are closing in UK, but I don't see any major protests. Why? Do people not think that there might be an urgent need to visit a

Branch?

Everything can be done online, so there is no widespread need for physical branches anymore. It's only an issue for the elderly with poor computer skills, but there's plenty of help available for them and they are unlikely to go out protesting. People who do go to protests aren't affected by this, so it makes sense for this not to be a topic in the streets.

@NerdyPotato When there's some technical difficulty and there is a need to visit a bank.. Phone conversation's and online interactions are less communicative than in person human to human interaction.
@Riemann that's very rare though. Most technical difficulties aren't that complicated that they can't be handled over the phone. They can't keep an office open for maybe 10 meetings a year. It's better to visit the client at home or their office then.

@NerdyPotato not everything can. Try sorting out a mortgage online, try going to a cash point… oh yes there are none in the village, the nearest is a 30 mile round trip. A number of places are cash, you need cash. Then there is the rural internet, do it online, sure and wait a day for pages to load etc. They are plans to move all telephones to using online VoIP, which is great unless you live in a rural area prone to power cuts, then yep no online services not just for banking but calling everyone.
Have you tried living in the Borders or Yorks Dales in winter?
@SW-User okay, if ATMs are removed as well, that's a problem indeed.

@NerdyPotato confused how you did not notice this, even in cities if you are living in London ?
@SW-User I live in a small city and they are 4 ATMs within half a mile. The tiny village I grew up in still has 3 as well. A lack of ATMs isn't an issue anywhere in the Netherlands as far as I'm aware.

@NerdyPotato ahh, this is about the UK.
@SW-User bank branches are closing worldwide, but it's not much of issue everywhere.
