A new norm in British politics ?

You do whatever will buy you votes. Whenever it cannot be undone as in Brexit, you apologise for damage it has done to relations with neighbours claiming you didn't foresee the results and all is forgiven.

I think leaving the EU has left a vacuum, the hole is the experience what is needed to run a country with out the guidance and the direction from the EU. Not easy to replace.

@Justenjoyit I saw the EU, whatever its faults, as something akin to an ideal to aim for : an end to inter-European wars, a federation where richer states would help poorer, etc.. I saw myself as European first, Irish or British second. This was taken away by false alarms and claims that the economy would boom by breaking from Europe. I think those responsible for such stories should have to account in some way for the inaccuracies.
