So Ukraine found some Russian drones.

They were surveillance drones and they appeared to have run out of gas. Ukraine fuelled them up put some duct tape over the damaged bits and sent them into Poland. Poland was ready. It had the latest and greatest American air defence system available. Poland let fly. Huge expenditure of arms and a huge drain on Poland's pocket book. So of the 19 unarmed drones Ukraine sent and after millions of dollars of American missiles fired at them 3 Russian drones were shot down the rest just ran out of gas again and landed largely intact.

Just an addendum to the initial post. The drones have a range of 700 kms. The distance from Russia to Poland is 1200 kms.

@hippyjoe1955 The claim that drones have a 700 km range refers to modified Russian Geran/Gerbera drones, which were reportedly equipped with extra fuel tanks to reach Poland during a September 2025 attack, despite Russia's claim their maximum range is 700 km and they had no targets in Poland. The statement also aligns with the announced range of Ukrainian "Peklo" missile drones and other long-range Ukrainian UAVs designed to strike targets deep within Russia.

@Khenpal1 The drones found in Poland had a range of 700 kms. You can't hang external tanks on those under powered drones.

@hippyjoe1955 The statement "You can't hang external tanks on those under powered drones" is not directly supported by the provided search results, which focus on the use of drones as anti-tank weapons and defenses, not on drones themselves carrying external tanks

@Khenpal1 These are not armed drones. They are simply meant to fly into enemy territory and get shot at. They send back the information of where the shots are coming from so missiles can take the weapons out.
Khenpal1 · M
@hippyjoe1955 The claim is demonstrably false. Visual evidence of some of the crashed Gerbera drones that entered Poland shows that they contained extra fuel tanks that would allow them to fly longer than their normal reach of 600 km. Radar data showed that the drones came from Belarus or Russia through Ukrainian air space.

@Khenpal1 Sure they did. You keep telling yourself that. Here is a question. What benefit would it be for Russia to send those drones to Poland? There is no benefit whatsoever. In fact it would be counter productive to Russia's goals.
Khenpal1 · M
@hippyjoe1955 you just keep changing the subject when confronted, ask Putin for some money. 😂
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Khenpal1 I changed nothing. You are saying Russia attached external fuel tanks to send the drones to Poland and I asked the question. Why would Russia do that?

@hippyjoe1955 hybrid warfare
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Khenpal1 There is no reason for Russia to send drones to Poland and huge reasons not to send drones to Poland.
Khenpal1 · M
@hippyjoe1955 its your opinion
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Khenpal1 And the opinion of many many experts who said the same thing before I formed my opinion. Sending drones to Poland makes no sense at all from a Russian perspective. The kind of drones makes it doubly suspicious since they were not armed and were intended to find out where the enemies guns and missiles were hidden. Russia never followed up with strikes against the guns and missiles as is the intent in launching the drones in the first place.

@hippyjoe1955 You repid whatRussians say , Russian experts and no links into your experts. What you call an expert ?
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Khenpal1 No actually I am saying what many American experts are saying. They are a lot more informed than I am so I listen to them.
Khenpal1 · M
@hippyjoe1955 links ? or you heard it in church 😂
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Khenpal1 We don't discuss things like this in church. Not to mention which about 20 percent of our church is made up of Ukrainian refugees.
