Russian tanks are easily being destroyed by cheap drones

Depending on their size and technological sophistication, the drones can cost as little as $500 — a paltry investment for taking out a $10 million Abrams tank. And some of them can carry munitions to boost the impact of their blast, said Colonel Reisner. These could be rocket-propelled grenades, he said, or self-forging warheads known as explosively formed penetrators, or EFPs, that were widely used in roadside bombs during the war in Iraq. Colonel Reisner has collected videos of tanks in Ukraine being chased down by the drones or drones flying into their open turrets.

Ok, so Abrams aren't Russian tanks, they're American, but it doesn't matter anymore since neither side uses tanks on the frontline like they used to because drones have changed war forever. Both are able to manufacture cheap drones so the advantage is who can make more faster, with more range and better anti-EW (electronic warfare) tech. Russia has a bigger manufacturing industry than Ukraine and has more advanced drones... If the recent pummeling across all of Ukraine doesn't tell you Russia has the advantage, I don't know what to tell you.

@ImNotHungry I heard Russia took 1/5 of Ukrainian territory, it’s not bad but I thought they would take more. But they’re fighting nato with all the armament they provide

@Ferise1 They are engaged in an attritional war which is currently working in favour of Russia despite the nonsensical claims made about Russia losing a gazillion Godzillian soldiers by now. Even if we suppose Ukraine is winning the war of attrition, they are also currently debating whether or not to conscript 18 year olds, which means the odds aren't in their favour anyway.

@ImNotHungry I think Russia has a right to a buffer zone. Americans have told me that countries join NATO wilfully because it’s better economically. But I don’t know. I think Russia has a good system. Like I saw one time that Putin forced a factory to stay open so that the workers could still have a job. I like that. It’s better than America, which has huge layoffs and working poor and homeless people.

Are the Russians using Abrams tanks now? Have they run out of their own?
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@SpudMuffin yeah I think so
SpudMuffin · 61-69, M
@Ferise1 I wonder where they got them?

@SpudMuffin I don’t know it’s one of those things that I really don’t want to research
