I understand the reason that the money was given. But there are so many things still needed in the U.S. And hard-won freedoms here are currently being eroded. It is a bit hypocritical to send money elsewhere when so many here are homeless. But there’s a precedent for this. The U.S. sent troops to fight the Nazis—racially segregated troops.
It’s hard not to be bitter, and I do wish people of the Ukraine their regained freedom, but the United States have wrongs they’ve still not redressed right here, having to do with the very freedom we claim to value.
