War kills, however, the Russians leaders are actually committing war crimes by ordering their soldiers to target civilians. I believe this is why so many have deserted the Russian Army. They know what they are doing is wrong and can see the insanity in their country's words.

Maybe the same reason Ukraine has been doing the same thing to Russian speaking areas of Ukraine since 2014

Because Russia faces a demographic nightmare and invaded Ukraine in order to Russify 40+ million people. Killing a few million along the way doesn't bother them.
