Fleeing Russians...won’t fight in Ukraine

Example..New York Times

First person: One 23-year-old bought a plane ticket to Istanbul, wrapped up his business and kissed his crying mother goodbye — all within about 12 hours of Putin’s announcement. He said he had no idea when he would return. “I was sitting and thinking about what I could die for, and I didn’t see any reason to die for the country,” he said.
...
The not sensible ones have been rounded up and are in the army now.

A man who won't die for his country is no man at all.

@calicuz Die for Putin? Certainly not worth it. Let Putin die first. If he wants Ukraine, he can go fight for the place himself.

@calicuz Dying for countries such as Iran, North Korea, Russia, Eritrea, Syria is not an honor, it's a disgrace.

@helenS

A disgrace by whose standards?
Certainly not Russia's
helenS · 36-40, F
@calicuz The standards of a tyranny are invalid.

@helenS

When's the last time you went to Russia to witness the tyranny?
Last time I checked, people flee tyranny by the droves. I don't see Russians fleeing Russia.
I suggest people stop listening to the propaganda machine that is American news sources, and start seeking out legitimate news sources to tell them the truth about the world.

@calicuz I have some friends in St. Petersburg (from the days when I was doing science), and what they tell me is horrible.

You should see an ophthalmologist. Your vision must be impaired.

@helenS

Wow, i thought we were having an intelligent conversation and then you threw in the last part.
Last i checked, when someone is losing a debate, they usually resort to insults.
helenS · 36-40, F
@calicuz Hundreds of thousands of Russian are fleeing the land, and you can't see it????
Sorry my reply was not meant as an insult.

@helenS

If you have one, or can find, i'd like a video link of Russians fleeing Russia.

@calicuz Seriously? Tell me, what war did you volunteer for and fight in "for your country"?

@Ontheroad

I would go to war and fight for my country if my country were threatend. So far to date, my country, nor any international incident, has required me take up arms and defend my country, my fellow citizens or the Constitution.

@helenS

I'm sorry, but CNN is not a legitimate news source. It is a propaganda tool.
Please provide another source if you have one.
helenS · 36-40, F
@calicuz That's fine, thank you. Have a nice day.
Ontheroad · M
@calicuz Great... I'm glad to hear that, but until you have faced the real possibility of fighting for your country, your comment means nothing. Besides that, you might want to talk to the millions living under a totalitarian government who gives you no option but to be cannon fodder.

@Ontheroad

My friend, we are on the brink of war now.
With the Supreme Court reversing Roe V Wade out of nowhere.
My fellow citizens storming the Capital.
The Police continuing to murder their own citizens.
When Big Brother reveals himself, and claims to be the one with the solutions to all our problems and all we have to do is kneel and bow down to him and surrender all power to him, THAT is when the real and final war will begin.
The question is, are you prepared to fight and give your life for that war, or will you be the one who knells?

@calicuz Sorry, I thought we were being rationale. Catch you on the flip side.
