OKAY...40% of the world's potassium nitrate for fertilizer comes from Belarus and Ukraine. Now there's a war.

Farmers in the USA are ALREADY using human waste in a product known as "sludge" to fertilize crops.

PLEASE...everyone...this can kill you (e coli) if you don't wash your veggies and fruits very carefully. Safest yet...cook everything.

I thought potassium nitrate formed naturally with decay of organic matter...

I've no idea why they would have to resort to using human waste specifically, there are many other types of waste and matter that will produce it, to my understanding.

I also fail to see how it coming from a country overseas would be a more viable way to obtain it. But perhaps someone can educate me.
@caccoon my thoughts and understanding align with yours.

My gut feeling here is that the Ukraine war is being used as an excuse for something else. That seems to be happening alot and if it really is all true Ukraine should have been the richest country on the planet.

@Tinkles @caccoon I wonder how all of it is shipped? Through what port? Was it Mariopol?
