Plenty of people with disabilities that are entrepreneurs and billionaires

I've taught in Asia before. You won't get denied for scoliosis. They're looking for things like cancer or HIV. And as for the kids, if you're a strong teacher and your classroom discipline, you'll be fine. You're going to get comments behind your back for something. All of us did when I was doing it but for the most part the kids in Korea are really polite and super hard working.

@LadyBadBrit you make me feel so much better about this!! Also, I know mental illnesses can keep someone from getting the job. I have depression and anxiety. But I’m working on them this year

@cwalk34 Even that one isn't a huge deal especially if you don't report it on your initial medical check. After you're there, finding meds is a little harder, but if you go through a private hospital it's not hard. A good percentage of my colleagues were medicated in some way or another and even untreated bipolar disorder wasn't all that unusual.

@LadyBadBrit Oh! Where exactly is it that you worked again? I know every country is different though

Maybe they won't make fun of you.. not all kids and schools are the same .. are you sure the guy you are talking to is even from there? I would think that they had excellent schools that they would be proud of (not that i know anything about it) just seems weird he'd try to poo poo the idea

@YoMomma he’s a friend from Korea that I met in person when I visited Korea last year and then this year. Even stayed with him and his family! Yes he’s really from there! I was visiting him when he told me about that teacher. lol

@cwalk34 ok 😅😅 😊 i have cousins who are half Korean, their dad met their mom there while in the army 😊

Because it happened to one teacher doesn't mean it happens to all of them. If you see any of that though be sure to take names and report it to the principal, they can have a discussion with the parents and stop it.

I think you should try to verify all that before ruling out going back to Korea.
cwalk34 · 31-35, F
@Bowenw Yea I'm starting the process of applying this summer. I should know early on if it will work out or not
Bowenw · 61-69, M
@cwalk34 Best of luck. I hope it all works out for you.

Wtf kids be brutal. I tried teaching in Taiwan, English as well. But the pay wasn't there. Maybe one day I'll pursue it, for the experiences more than anything.
