Teaching English in South Korea

I told my Korean friend that I’m wanting to go back to Korea next year and teach English but he told me about a teacher who got bullied by 4 students and he doesn’t want me to get hurt because I have scoliosis and kids might make fun of me for it. Then I began to realize that I might not even be able to get a job because of my scoliosis!!😭

I've taught in Asia before. You won't get denied for scoliosis. They're looking for things like cancer or HIV. And as for the kids, if you're a strong teacher and your classroom discipline, you'll be fine. You're going to get comments behind your back for something. All of us did when I was doing it but for the most part the kids in Korea are really polite and super hard working.

@LadyBadBrit you make me feel so much better about this!! Also, I know mental illnesses can keep someone from getting the job. I have depression and anxiety. But I’m working on them this year

@cwalk34 Even that one isn't a huge deal especially if you don't report it on your initial medical check. After you're there, finding meds is a little harder, but if you go through a private hospital it's not hard. A good percentage of my colleagues were medicated in some way or another and even untreated bipolar disorder wasn't all that unusual.

@LadyBadBrit Oh! Where exactly is it that you worked again? I know every country is different though
