@bijouxbroussard Speaking about England?
Magicianzini · M
@SumKindaMunster When native South Africans decide it's enough. The question itself is one that an outsider doesn't even have the place to ask. There is no "turn" to eat. It's their table.

48 Years after WW2 the current regime was handed a first world country. After 33 years it can't even be called a third world country. At least the world had all the answers, Europe is a good example.
SirLirkALot · 46-50, M
ah yeah that old narrative
SirLirkALot · 46-50, M
@InterdimensionalSideEye not the whole thing but it looks interesting. I remember that meeting but it wasn't a big point of interest here in the the USA at least compared to the one with Zelensky. but that's because our media is leftist
@SirLirkALot you should watch it.

@InterdimensionalSideEye People chose to believe the media on this when Trump made it an issue. 😒

so this film was made by a right-wing activist, who seems to have a bromance with TucKKKer KKKarlson, to create sympathy for Afrikaner colonizers? What exactly is "Afrikaner self-determination"? Seeking an Afrikaner "homeland"? Like, um The Netherlands perhaps?
BlueGreenGrey · M
@InterdimensionalSideEye before (or even after) you watched it, did you objectively take a moment to investigate how much of this film is true versus what percentage of it is just taking the few true bits to separately advance a political agenda or espouse metrics which are not actually borne out by real world, cold hard data (e.g., saying the US is SA's biggest trading partner when in fact the data shows it is China, and there is no proven state-sponsord persecution of whites (in fact whites STILL have far outsized structural privilege in SA even at this very moment ... so what else is inaccurate in the film)? Are you eager to trust a questionable narrator who lures you in with a few real documented testimonials, so they can sell you the rest of their agenda?
Don't get me wrong, I acknowledge my white settler lineage in the US as well, and I don't dislike every white-connected thing about SA (e..g., the pinotage grape was created by an Afrikaner (and to be fair, I have no idea beyond that where he was an absolute douche or beneficiary of apartheid), and my first Linux distro was created by British-ancestry guy who isn't as detestable as Musk proves he is every day of the week, just ask anyone in Ukraine for example).
Right-wing activists WILL be the first people to pull a bait-and-switch tactic on you to lure you in and then sell you an agenda. This is empirically observable over and over in any country. It absolutely does matter what the track record of, e.g., a filmmaker is, to vet the veracity of anything that comes out of their mouth or camera, eventually patterns show up as to what they say or show can be trusted, or taken with a grain of salt, or discarded outright as adopted victimhood fever dream culture war slop. People (and their broader peer groups) create their own reputations, and everything they insert into the world (like a "documentary") rightfully, logically is stainded by that reputation.
So aside from a film, are you personally experiencing any personal persecution for the color your skin or anything else, whether it is state-sponsored or more more randomly localized?

@BlueGreenGrey you didn’t watch it, did you?
Wireman · 31-35, M
@BlueGreenGrey Another knows it all. The only true inhabitants in South African was the Bushmen, the rest came after the whites did, and they did leave evidence that stretches from Rhodesië (Zimbabwe) throughout South African and up to South West Africa. And it could be futher, but for that I can t be sure. And exactly how many racist laws aimed directly at whites did the current regime implement? Any idea?

We are told black people born in England are English.
But apparently white people born in Africa aren’t African.
Point out the double standard and you are called racist.
