Wow! Had no idea this was going on. I’m so sorry. The world is changing or disintegrating may be better word. Hoping things get better over there.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
I watched a video on YouTube about your country and it was so bleak, the level of corruption is mind blowing. I hope things get better .
CoffeeFirst · 56-60, F
This is just an awful situation. My heart breaks for your country - and you.

I am glad you posted this
you compassion is clear, as is your experience
when will you leave?
SW-User
Wow, I've only just seen this. I hope things have improved since you posted this?

The whole world is a shit show now in my opinion, corrupt greedy governments, failing society, so much hate and anger.
Fantabulous · 46-50, F
@SW-User Things are somewhat better as far as the power is concerned...but as you say, it's a mess everywhere.
Stefanv · 56-60, M
Sorry to hear even you are feeling bad. Sounds like another trip to Scotland is needed or even to the south of france where we are having the odd strike or two!!
Fantabulous · 46-50, F
@Stefanv yes, definitely think its time for my dose of the UK again soon. I've heard there has been a little strike or so happening with the change in the retirement age.
Stefanv · 56-60, M
@Fantabulous yes but that’s in france. The uk has its own problems!!
Rutterman · 46-50, M
This is heartbreaking. I am so sorry for what you and your fellow South Africans are going through. As it doesn't sound like things will get better anytime soon, I hope you can find a way to leave the country and establish a new life somewhere else.
That’s such a toxic environment to live in, Fab…it’s like you’re out there fending for yourselves while the Govt is a mess/non-existential. 😭

Breaks my heart…come here and live with us, Fab. Please leave that dangerous place for the sake of your loved ones…😞

Missed you tons….💖 But didn’t expect this…
Fantabulous · 46-50, F
@Vivaci If we could leave we would Viv ☹️, but so many things make that really difficult.

Miss you too my sweet 🤗
@Fantabulous I read that in the comments below. 💔😖

Check pm 😘🤗

A big 🤗 for you
The USA is right behind you

Way to much reading
Fantabulous · 46-50, F
@Funlov *too
Sutten · 36-40, F
I understand im from SA :(
I am sorry to hear about this.

As a global community we really need to rethink our economic system too. When you have a situation anywhere where you have food shortages because food is thrown out of wasted because it is not "profitable" in a completely artificial system something is very broken.
Barny52 · 56-60, M
Read and didn’t know about this xx
ineedadrink · 51-55, M
Wow, I had no idea things were that bad there. I'm sorry to hear it.
WindTherapy · 56-60, M
Poor dear, I'm so sorry to hear this. It is very scary to read. Keeping you and others in my prayers.
Fantabulous · 46-50, F
@WindTherapy Thank you 🤗
helensusanswift · 26-30, F
Your government seems more corrupt than ours - is there an election coming up?
I thought SA had huge gold and mineral reserves. In fact, I thought it was one of the richest countries in Africa.
Fantabulous · 46-50, F
@helensusanswift there are elections next year, but when majority of voters are destitute, it's amazing what the promise of a free meal and a t shirt can do in exchange for a vote.
No matter how many resources we have, when corruption is rife, it only benefits a select few.
helensusanswift · 26-30, F
@Fantabulous That is entirely correct. British elections were like that once, and it took many attempts and much effort to create a better system. Now it seems to be sliding back into the mire with the present administration. I hope you can sort things out soon.

It's a shame your beautiful land is gong to hell through massive corruption, praying things get better soon.

Having been to South Africa and spent many happy months there, I can only hope it doesn't go the same way as Zimbabwe. Thinking of you and my S African friends in Cape Town.

I am so sorry. Horrible conditions resulting from gov't corruption. The green agenda will only lead to greater misery.
DHggmu · 31-35, M
That was horrible to read. I know there are countless countries with their own issues and that’s awful too, but what the cost of living is doing to some countries is criminal. We work full time and can barely pay our bills, literally working to survive. What kind of life is that? I’m so sorry to hear what is happening in South Africa. I can only hope it gets better.
Fantabulous · 46-50, F
@DHggmu Thanks for reading. I agree, it's tough in so many countries, we can only hold on to hope that things will get better.
All our leaders are beholden to this green new deal by hook or crook.
Cheap coal fired energy is being phased out under the guise of climate emergency.

Millions are going to starve and die in their quest to destroy our food source, and get us to eat bugs..

LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
I can’t imagine living like that. Im so sorry.
I hope things improve for you and your family.

If it’s any consolation…come to Canada. Doors are open.

Hugs
Fantabulous · 46-50, F
@LunarOrbit Thank you, I sure hope they improve!! Hee hee, now if I could just live through your cold winters 😋
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
@Fantabulous Right?!? My parents emigrated from Italy. You think they woulda googled ‘Canada’ before hopping on the boat?? Nooooo. I could be living somewhere hot right now lol
rrraksamam · 31-35, M
Yep. South Africa is beginning to feel like Lebanon (but with more crime).
I think it's only a matter of time before the banks will decide people can't withdraw money anymore

I read it all my friend. My home land is also run by a similarly inept and corrupt government. How long has load shedding been going for? I saw in the news they mentioned at least another year of it is expected
Fantabulous · 46-50, F
@BeefySenpie :( it's so sad. It started in 2008 and they did none of the changes they were meant to do. They keep lying and saying another year but the engineers say it is a 5 to 10 year fix, given that the current systems are failing and they new ones have not been built.
Ambroseguy80 · 51-55, M
Oh Fantab! Sounds absolutely horrid! Be well, my lady. Do we know a valid reason there is such a “power shortage”? Or is it just Communism advancing on the world?
Fantabulous · 46-50, F
@Ambroseguy80 Amby it's awful! Everyone is just sad and angry all the time. Basically when our new government took over 30 years ago, they never listened to the engineers who advised them about building new power plants and maintaining them. Every contract was awarded to one of their affiliates, who had no idea how to do the job. So now unit after unit is failing and all the money has been eaten up by these corrupt idiots.
Ambroseguy80 · 51-55, M
@Fantabulous I am so sorry, sweetheart 🤗

What a short-sighted government 💔
I can’t imagine, living day to day like this.
The worry and stress…
I’m sorry
Convivial · 26-30, F
Your country and the people have my sympathy... No chance for you to leave?
Fantabulous · 46-50, F
@Convivial I could apply for my British passport by descent, but it costs so much money and trying to do the paper work this side is a disaster. Then on top of that my eldest son (20) would not qualify to leave with me
Convivial · 26-30, F
@Fantabulous i can see the problem... Emigration?
CommandLine · 56-60, M
I read it too.
I am shocked that it is so bad. Be brave, we are thinking of you.
Fantabulous · 46-50, F
@CommandLine Thank you for reading, your kind words are appreciated 🤗
CommandLine · 56-60, M
@Fantabulous unfortunately kind words cannot make things better for you, I wish they could though. 🤗
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
Yeah it's been rough.
It's heavily affecting my work. I'm on the South Coast of KZN, so it's brutally warm as well.
Fortunately, a friend of mine here in the apartment complex has weed, so that's been keeping me from going completely nuts during loadshedding.
Fantabulous · 46-50, F
@basilfawlty89 I know what you mean, it really is a beautiful country, but I think we have lost it to these idiots who are intent on destroying it. If I could I would go
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@Fantabulous should be our national anthem at this point:

I read it. I read it all.

Heart-breaking and vivid. I wonder how many understand we all stand a year or three from there?
Fantabulous · 46-50, F
@Mamapolo2016 Thank you for reading...it really is heart-breaking...I pray that things turn around for other countries before they head down the same path
