To the great pretender
To "toast the great pretender stuart," as any true Jacobite would, would involve a secret toast to the King over the water, often by passing a wine glass over a finger bowl of water. The "great pretender" was James Francis Edward Stuart, and this toast demonstrated loyalty to the Stuart cause and the exiled royal family in France. His son was Charles Edward Stuart who was once called "the Young Pretender" or "the Young Chevalier", but in popular memory he stayed known as Bonnie Prince Charlie
