Russia says to hell with everyone, we're going to stop the grain and starve everyone, especially developing countries and drive a huge refugee influx into Europe.
Turkey says Let me talk to Putin. We can make a deal and avoid this awful situation.
Then Russia says Ok Europe, we will stick to the grain shipments but only because Turkey asked us. Hey Turkey, now all of Europe deals with you and we ship all our gas to you instead of Germany. Dismantle NATO for us
The chance of Putin really starving the third would always seemed unlikely, he needs all the allies he can get and a lot of them are in developing countries. And on top of that it'd both completely destabilize Europe to a point he'd lose all control, and China and India are not ready for the level of chaos either. This whole thing smelled like a bluff from the start
