@helenS Every German woman ran to the allies to surrender to them, rather than the Russians, at end of WWII. They were such animals

@SW-User As far as I know Eisenhower ensured a very strict non-fraternization policy throughout all occupation troops in Germany. But then in 1945 or 1946 tens of thousands found out that a young German "Maria" was just as nice and beautiful as a young "Mary" from Dayton, Ohio 😏

@SW-User It's fascinating story. The British and American troopers were told to expect goose-stepping monsters and nazi fanatics, but they met young girls instead. The myth of the willing Fraulein had gained strength among the troops soon. One month after the end of the war, fraternization was the rule rather than the exception. The ban was modified in June 1945, and on October 1, 1945, was discontinued.
There was no such fraternization in those parts of Germany which were occupied by the Russians, of course.

@justanothername What do you mean, viable? Putin needs only a sufficient level of violence, alcoholism and poverty in his own country, and his country has plenty of all that. He will always find men who don't ask questions when they are given the opportunity to kill, rape and plunder. 😕

@helenS Also true. It’s about the volume of men you can send to war as opposed to the quality and fighting ability.
