@helenS I agree. Jews have been subjected to much oppression far and wide, historically. Some people think it is primarily a conflict that is Jewish - Middle-Eastern but they forget the tortures and expulsions and oppression across the European lands. Like in Castille when the queen expelled all the Jews and forcefully converted those who didn't flee in time. WWII is a different story. During WWII, a lot of the fleeing from the German offensive was because of the expansion of Germany under Hitler, if I am not mistaken. Of the 11 million displaced, 6 million were Jews and 5 million were not Jews. We care about all of them. The Palestinians were not displaced by running from German foot soldiers, tanks, and aerial offensive. The Palestinians are a different case because they're being displaced by colonialism and European mandate. They were displaced because it was a place where the Zionists in Britain, like British Lord Walter Rothschild of the parliament, said they would like to establish a homeland of their own.
All in all, that's not relevant to the main problem. The main problem is that we should show sympathy to people who are in need. The conflict is not anti-Semitic. It is a colonial issue. The Zionists have deported black Jews, which you should call out to be anti-Semitic if you really care about it. Just focus on studying the history of the lands.
You decide whether you wanna side with the oppressors or the oppressed. I just want you to know the truth and not be brainwashed.
@nightjourney be soft. Some people trusted people close to them and they have been deceived. We all grow up with different views and maybe some things we see right and others, not so much. You have no idea how hard it is to take a step back and reconstruct reality and accept new truth or facts that have been hidden from you since you were born. Be patient and offer the truth and whoever wants to accept it will accept it and whoever turns away will turn away. That is our way and we do what we can to spread truth and peace and expunge the world of lies and deception
I think about it often, amongst other people and situations. I was thinking about them today because my sister is sponsoring a child and has intentions of helping her come here when she's 18. I was reading her profile. She's a beautiful little girl😔💙
I also saw this today and my heart broke for them. Nearly 100% of those eligible, aged between 26-54, applied for these permits. This level of employment competition is extremely unethical and an unsustainable way of living and this doesn't even scratch the surface of their everyday hardships.
Just because the voices about what's happening have lost their volume, doesn't mean the suffering has stopped
People don't really care about Palestinians or any oppressed group in fact. Even most Arabs and Muslims in Arab countries, they don't care. You will see them online talking about it when it's trendy, jumping on the bandwagon but nothing of substance ever gets done.
The oppressed group have to rise up and I don't see that happening when they don't even have clean water to drink.
We live in indifferent world.

@Miram Unfortunately I don't think it's going to be free either. I don't think there are any examples in history of an indigenous people undoing the effects of a settler colony. South Africa sort of heading in that direction, maybe...but obviously very different.
In either case, the one-state and two-state solutions are both impossible for various reasons so the only thing that's going to happen is the ongoing slow takeover of Palestine (which I guess will be a "one state" but not the "solution" that's proposed).

Very much that. As someone from a culture that's being slowly erased, I know it's inevitable when there is such huge gap in power between the sides in conflicts.
It's not that I give up on Palestinians and helping them, but everything at this point is about minimizing suffering and not even enough of it to be honest.

@eMortal I don't know them. That's why I asked. But I don't doubt people have strong opinions against Israel policies and apartheid. Let's take away beliefs and thoughts and look at actions and their lifelong consequences as objectively as we can. What are we left with? A picture that is more telling than any other oversimplified version of ideas people have.
