Why do world leaders need to take sides?

It is time to stop the violence in Palestine now
Powderflask · 31-35, M
I think world leaders should stay out of it and let the two factions sort it out. Why does everyone have to die over someone else’s problems.
Powderflask · 31-35, M
@chrisCA Sure. 🤘🏻
Bettzsyy · 56-60, F
@chrisCA I don;t think the Palestinians can ''carpet bomb''

They have no planes.

Difficult to do without planes
chrisCA · M
@Powderflask Troops were sent to Korea, and Vietnam, because the Americans were afraid of the spread of Communism.

I agree - how do we stop the violence?

@Bettzsyy People don't care about what happens far from where they live. BLM was about something happening under their nose. Here in Europe, in comparison, they were minimal, for the same reason.

@Bettzsyy
there were massive protests for BLM. Where are the protests for the People of Palestine
How is that going to make a difference? BLM protests in the USA were effective (no matter where you stand), because it was in the USA where the problem is.

Only the USA is capable of exerting pressure to put an end to this, as Israel's main arms supplier and financial backer. The US, at this point, seems to be buying into Netanyahu's logic of inflicting enough damage on Hamas, to prevent it from carrying future attacks. This is not working, and it's time to stop the carnage.
Insanely rare for there to be major action taken based on problems not affecting a large portion of our country. It's taken so long for the Flint water crisis to be dealt with, comparing that to helping out people from another country seems even less likely. Obviously I'm with you, though.

Elessar · 26-30, M
@Skilllickous It's always been like this. Open a history book, tell me of a single period lasting more than one decade in which there weren't wars, pestilences or shit anywhere.
Unlearn · 41-45, M
What about the violence started by terrorists in Palestine...
Bettzsyy · 56-60, F
@Unlearn Is that an excuse to punish an entire nation
Unlearn · 41-45, M
@Bettzsyy shouldn't it just be ignored!? Let them kill ones citizens!?
chrisCA · M
Money, oil, their own national interests. They also need to maintain their support at home.
pdockal · 56-60, M
Leaders need to lead and when atrocities are committed against their people they MUST do something !
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
That seems unlikely 😔
Human1000 · M
The US just looks the other way.
