@Stereoguy It's not "therapy".
It's based on the idea that an individual confused about his or her gender or sexuality can be "cured" of it, but by what amounts to punishment by ignorami rather that any attempt at genuine clinical psychology (even if that is possible).
It's really a form of what in British law might be described as "coercive and contrrolling behaviour".

Good. Barbaric practices don't belong to European civilization. It should be extended EU wide
bijouxbroussard · F
That’s a country that supports its children.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Sounds like a good start to me.
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
But also, depends on the age of their child
Baremine · 70-79, C
@nobodyishome it ought to be banned completely.
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
@Baremine oh what should be banned and why :)
Baremine · 70-79, C
@nobodyishome conversion therapy. It has been proven medically to be bad medicine.

About time. Should be a human rights violation.
Those who force others are really monsters themselves. Not just the matter of the method of forcing.

Ban genital mutilation and hormones for children worldwide
@MasterLee the Netherlands is taking initiative there too. There's currently a big discussion about whether circumcision should be banned. 👍

Horrific

I thought conversion therapies were banned in every civilized part of the world already in 20th century. They weren't?!
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@CrazyMusicLover In some countries perhaps, but I think they are a late-20C invention anyway.
It took way too long, but better later than never. Too bad it came with several loopholes and still doesn't really stop the practice.

It's logical that gender dysphoria is a psychiatric problem. Does this mean that treatment aimed at getting kids to face reality could land their parents in jail?
Elessar · 31-35, M
@Afterlife It's logical that religious conservatism is a psychiatric problem. Does this mean that treatment aimed at getting the boomers to face reality, such as configuring grandparent control so that the 65+ kids can't access Facebook/FOX unsupervised, or the outright ban of extremist parties that try to reenact the Nazi/fascist ideology as they do in Germany should be called a violation of FoS in allegedly "free" country such as the USA? 🤪
GoFish ·
conversion of what?
Baremine · 70-79, C
When someone decides to change sex. Definitely should be outlawed.
beermeplease · M
tbh...i really don't understand this question
beermeplease · M
@LordShadowfire oh...glad i dont live in the netherlands that have such camps
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@beermeplease The Netherlands is acting to prevent any such "camps" - if any such thing exist there. The aim is to outlaw a form of cruelty whether in so-called "camps" (are there such things?) or in individual encounters.
bijouxbroussard · F
@beermeplease The Netherlands is fighting against such camps. But you do live in a country where they’re illegal, which means you care about your children, too.
Guess which side of the question MAGA USA is on ?
