Do you still print out directions?

Yes, otherwise you end up taking a world tour through some shady places...
I miss those days

I probably should print return directions in the event that something happens to my phone, but I haven't. Something I keep thinking I should do and then forget to do and there's never been any consequences anyway. One of these days I'll get unlucky and wish I had.
Probably could've saved me time on my last trip, too, because I couldn't charge on the plane and had to stop about halfway on the road to charge at a McD for a bit.

Hand-write rather than waste electricity and ink printing them.

I put both "sat-nav" and road-atlas in my car for journeys when I may need them; and prepare a route-card holding the road numbers and towns - and details like motorway junction numbers. This is written in big felt-tip pen letters on a sheet of card such as the inside of a panel from an empty cereal carton, so as to be read easily at a glance.

The "sat-nag" is all very well but not infallible, does no tell me where we are at any given point, and can be defeated by unexpected road closures or a close-set series of complicated junctions in a very busy town.

It will also sometimes give me very strange choices of route: these work but until we are back on the proper road I am lost.

Nope, but I still have a Rand-McNally road map book and it's only about a year old. I use GPS, but a map, at least for me, is essnetial.

I study google maps and memorize the route.

No, not anymore. So easy to just plug the address into your phone and it tells you where to turn.

I subscribe to Google navigation updates and use GPS for nav guidance.
