@BigGuy2 Owned? And should we return all lands to the indigenous population of 2,000 plus years ago? The Stern gang were terrorists and Israel has been run as an apartheid state since its inception. And I'd agree that Hamas are a terrorist organisation. Perdonally I think Israel as a state is doomed. They've had opportunities to agree a two state solution, but resisted all of them. Israel will be destroyed by Zionism, and I fear it will be extremely bloody.

No.

The only country in the Middle East that is a direct threat to any other country, the ONLY country that could wipe another off the map is Israel.

And why?

The have one of the most well trained armies in the world.
They enjoy the unconditional support of the US and the Western powers through playing the Anti-Semitism card.

And most important of all:

They have nuclear weapons

Israel is a direct threat to its neighbours. But it does not need to "defend itself" No country is an existential threat to Israel. Two groups want Israel's destruction: Hamas and Hezbollah. But neither are a direct threat to Israel's existence, and they know it. And so does Israel.

@BigGuy2 Just about every country in the Middle East has either made peace with Israel (Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, Morocco, Sudan, UAE), or is well down the road to making peace (Saudi Arabia).

Syria has remained quiet and clearly does not want to get involved.

Lebanon and Hezbollah are essentially states within states. Hezbollah has no president and an economic crisis. The rest of Lebanon just wants to be left alone, yet more than 50 children, as well as humanitarian workers, first aid responders and government employees were killed in Israel's latest airstrikes.

Hezbollah is not stupid, Iran is not stupid. They know the limits. Since October 7, Israel and Hezbollah have exchanged a few token missiles and strong rhetoric. Same as always. Both sides are generally happy.

Israel has changed this. It has now started a war on two fronts, neither of which are self-defence. This is revenge. And Israel's tactics alone are what's destabilising the Middle East. Not Hamas, Not Hezbollah. Not Iran.
